Choosing a Soundtrack for Your Magisto Movie
Updated on December 26, 2011 by Magisto
In order to create a Magisto clip there are three steps – 1. Upload your videos; 2. Choose a title; and 3. Choose a song for the soundtrack. The videos that you upload are, of course, the most important part of the process, but the song you pick for your soundtrack can make or break your video. Here are a few tips to help you choose the right soundtrack.
1. Make sure to consider all your options
When you create a video with Magisto you have the option to choose a song from our library or to upload your own song from your computer. If you don’t have a song in mind then check out our collection. We’ve got a variety of songs, sorted according to theme (Birthday, Love, Kids, Travel, etc.).
If you don’t find a song you love in our collection you can upload one from your computer. However, if you upload your own music you should make sure that you’ve got the proper permission to upload it. All the songs in our library are licensed for use on Magisto.
2. Consider the mood of your video
You should choose a song that fits with the mood of your video. If it’s a happy video then choose a happy song. If it’s a sad video then choose a sad song. In the example below a spooky Halloween song was used to go with a spooky Halloween video.
3. The song you choose sets the pace of your video
Magisto changes the editing style of your clip according to the soundtrack you choose. If you choose a fast-paced song then the editing in your clip will have a faster pace. If you choose a slow-paced song then the editing will have a slower pace. Keep this in mind when choosing which song you want to use as your soundtrack.
4. Choose a song that reminds you of the event or place
If you’re creating a video of an event then you should ask yourself whether any songs were playing at the event or if there are any songs that remind you of the event. If you’re making a travel video, choose a song that comes from the country you were visiting. Choosing a song that is a good match for the event or place will add a lot to the final edit.
Finally, many of our users have asked whether it is possible to create a Magisto clip without using a soundtrack. This feature is not available at this time, but it will be available in the future. We’ll keep you updated when it goes live!
