How to Promote Your Video and Get More Views
Updated on December 19, 2011 by Magisto
Want to get more people to watch your Magisto videos? We’ve compiled a few tips to help you:
1. Mark your video as ‘Listed’
You’ll notice that on each Magisto video page there is the option to mark your movie as ‘Listed’ or ‘Unlisted’. When you mark your movie as unlisted it is kept private. Only people that you choose to share your movie with (via Twitter, Facebook, or the URL) will be able to watch. When you mark your movie as listed it will be listed in search results. This means that people can potentially find your movie via a Google search. Additionally, in the near future we will be featuring listed movies on the Magisto site.
2. Share your Magisto movies with your friends
Your friends and family are your best audience, so you should start with them when looking for people to watch your movies. We offer a variety of sharing tools so you can easily share your movies on Facebook, Twitter or via email. You can also export your movie to YouTube to open things up to YouTube’s huge audience.
3. YouTube tips – Metadata & Thumbnails
Speaking of YouTube, when you share your movie on YouTube you’ll want to make sure to add a description and tags to ensure that people will be able to find your video in a search. This is known as metadata. To add this information, click the ‘Edit info’ button on the video page while logged into your YouTube account. You can then fill in a description and tags related to your video.
While you’re editing your metadata, you can also click on the ‘Video Thumbnail’ button at the top of the page. YouTube automatically picks out 3 different thumbnails. Choose the most interesting and attractive one by clicking on it. The thumbnail is an important factor when it comes to people choosing whether or not they want to watch your video, so this is important.
Now that you're armed with some tips that will help you get more views on your movies it's time to decide which videos you want to upload to start making your movie!
