Updated on December 26, 2011 by Magisto
When you make a video with Magisto you want your video to be as fun and interesting as possible. While Magisto does automatic video editing for you, there are some things you can keep in mind while shooting and uploading your video footage that will help ensure that your video turns out great. We’ve compiled a few tips and tricks that will help you make a video that you’ll be proud to share on Youtube, Twitter, Facebook and beyond!
1. Shoot a variety of clips. A video with several different shots is always more interesting than one with a single shot, so try your best to get footage from different angles, of different people and subjects, even if each shot is only 15 seconds long. You can upload up to 16 video files (or up to 600 MB).
2. Get good shots of people’s faces. Try to get good shots of the faces of important people in your video. Magisto chooses the best shots to put into your final clip and by getting nice close-ups of the people you’d like to “star” in your video you’ll get better shots of them in your final clip. This also comes in handy when it comes to face tagging, as Magisto automatically indexes the faces of people in your video if the face is clear enough.
3. Try some camera movement. When you pan the camera from left to right or from right to left Magisto throws some cool effects into your video.
4. Don’t worry if you don’t have a tripod! We know “shaky camera syndrome” can make your viewers feel a little seasick, but not to worry—we automatically stabilize your shaky videos for you so you can focus on the story you want to tell in your video and not on your video shooting technique.
5. Try talking to the camera. If you talk directly to the camera, Magisto will use your original audio. This can add a nice effect.

Uploading Your Footage
When it comes time to upload your footage, take a look back at all the video clips you’ve got and choose the ones that you like best. If you don’t like one of your videos, leave it out! Remember that Magisto will make a video with the best parts of all of the videos you upload, so take the time to look back at your footage before you upload it to Magisto.Soundtrack Tips
Before you select a sountrack ask yourself, “What is the mood of my video?” Do you have a specific style in mind? Remember that your soundtrack will set the pace of your video—if the song you choose is happy and upbeat then the editing style will be as well; if the song you choose is slow and melancholy, your video will be as well. Now that you’ve got a few tips and tricks up your sleeve, you’re ready to get started!
