5 Ways To Get More Views On Your Online Videos

Have you ever uploaded a video to YouTube, Facebook or other sites and wondered why nobody was watching it?  Are you tired of nobody liking, commenting or paying attention to your videos?  We’ve put together a few tips to help you make your videos better and maximize your promotion so that you can get more views, comments, likes and shares.  Read on to find out more.

Make Sure Your Video Is Worth Watching

If you’re not getting a lot of views on your online videos, the first thing you have to do is ask yourself whether it has something to do with the videos you are uploading.  Are your videos short, to the point and interesting or do they drag on and on?  Maybe you uploaded a video that you shot on your mobile phone because your dog does something cute about half way through.  News flash: Online viewers (including your friends and family) don’t have very long attention spans.  If you don’t interest them within the first few seconds of your video, they’re likely to stop watching.

Make sure to edit your videos down to the most interesting parts.  Don’t know how to edit video?  That’s where Magisto comes in.  Just upload your videos and Magisto does the rest of the work for you, automatically.  Magisto analyzes your footage, edits together the most interesting parts and creates a video that you’ll be proud to share (and your friends and family will be much more willing to watch).

Promote Your Video In All Your Networks

Once your video is ready you have to share it, of course!  Nobody will watch your video if you don’t share it.  Share your video with your networks on Twitter and Facebook, post them on YouTube and, if you have a blog or website, embed your videos there for the world to see.  If you are sharing a Magisto video we offer all of these options directly on the video page.

Choose A Title That Sounds Intriguing

Make sure to pick an interesting title for your video.  This is the first thing people will see when deciding if they want to watch your video.  If you call it “My Video” nobody will know what the video is about and they probably won’t be too interested in watching to find out.  However, if you call your video something intriguing and let potential viewers know exactly what they will be watching if they choose to click play you’ll have a much higher success rate.

Add Tags & A Description In YouTube

If you’re sharing your video on YouTube you’ll want to be sure to add tags and a description.  This helps with discoverability.  When people search for the keywords that are listed in your tags and description your video may appear in search results, helping you get more targeted views.  Be sure to use only keywords that actually apply to your video.  For instance, if the video is of your dog, use keywords like “dog, puppy, pets, animals, Labrador (if your dog is a Labrador, of course).”  You can edit this information by clicking the ‘Edit info’ tab on your YouTube video page.

Make Sure Your Video Is ‘Listed’

Finally, if you are creating your video in Magisto, mark your video as ‘Listed.’  This will make your video listed in search results so the public can find it.  By default we mark your videos as ‘Unlisted’, as we value your privacy.  However, if you want to share your video with the world you can simply click ‘Listed’ on your video page.
