A Message From Magisto CEO Oren Boiman

I wanted to reach out and thank you personally for using Magisto, and to let you know about some exciting things we have in store.

In 2005, when my daughter was born and I first began working on a solution to make it easier to create and share personal videos, I had no idea that my vision would blossom into a service that touches so many lives.

Over the past year, our community has grown from 1 million to over 13 million registered users in over 100 countries around the globe. You’ve contributed to over 19 million Movies created since our launch. These are life experiences, which have been viewed over 81 million times. I wanted to reach out and thank you personally for using Magisto, and to let you know about some exciting things we have in store.

Since we launched Magisto in 2011, we’ve been blown away by the unique and creative uses that you, and the rest of our community, have found for our platform. We’ve seen everything from deeply personal memories, like this adorable father-son Movie created by one of our users, to brands and celebrities like Joan Osborne and Brad Paisley using Magisto to engage their audiences. People with no background in video production are using Magisto to easily create and share professional quality personal Movies, and more importantly to share their life experiences. Professional creatives are using Magisto as a new outlet for sharing their talents, like in these amazing Movies from Sandisk Extreme photographer Lucas Gilman.

You’re telling stories about virtually everything, and to that end I’m excited to tell you about some things we’re doing to make personal storytelling with Magisto even more effective.

Over the past month, we released our biggest redesign to date for iOS 7, designed to make Magisto simpler, more useful and more fun. As part of this redesign, we’re introducing Open Albums – to which anyone can contribute a Magisto Movie.  They are public video albums designed to help people with shared passion points congregate around their interests and share their stories as a collection. You can check out some of our featured albums here. Open Albums are the first step in our vision to turn Magisto from a video creation tool into a video storytelling network – a platform where you can discover great content and share your own Movies with the world.

Here at Magisto, we’re working towards the ultimate goal of making everything you capture unforgettable. To this end, I’m also excited to share our new Still-to-Video feature, which will launch in about 10 days. We’ve taught Magisto to become a master photo editor, in addition to a video editor, and you will soon be able to create Movies and tell your stories with photos only. This has been one of your most popular requests and we can’t wait to see what you do with it! We look forward to Still-to-Video taking your memories, stories and life experiences to new heights.

Our product is built on your feedback and suggestions and we want to hear from you as we continue to grow our service to ensure your experience is the best it can be. Please feel free to share your ideas with me and the rest of the team by leaving a comment below or finding us on Facebook or Twitter. These improvements are only the beginning. I look forward to hearing your feedback as we continue to grow Magisto into the ultimate tool for personal video sharing!
