No matter what kind of video you’re planning to create, we strongly recommend adding text to it. Whether it’s a video tutorial, a travel video, or a fun clip for social media – there are plenty of reasons why you should add text to your video, and we’ll dive into that here.

Research show that most videos on social media are viewed with sound off, especially on Facebook. That insight led most brands and video creators to take a soundless-first approach when creating videos.
Adding text, captions, and subtitles can ensure you that your video is appealing and understandable even if muted, and can also make it more comprehensible for audiences who speak English as a second language and might find it challenging to follow traditional narration.
Why Add Text?
Text is a great way to:
- Highlight your video’s central message
- Provide extra information to what is seen on screen
- Make your video more memorable
- Brand your message
- Make your video more aesthetically pleasing
