I am a scientist and a father. After the birth of our first child, my wife and I shot buckets of digital images. Like every other new parent, we were eager to make home movies to celebrate the new addition to our family. It took us two WEEKS to come up with three minutes of video we were proud of! The irony? I was a Ph.D. student at the time, researching the science of Video Vision. That was when I realized that I could apply my work in Artificial Intelligence to an everyday need for millions of people. That was the day I realized the world needed Magisto.
My Geeky Background:
Research Lead, Applied Materials
PhD. Computer Vision, Weizmann Institute Of Science
MSc. and BSc. Computer Science, Tel Aviv University
I have always viewed the world through a mathematician's eye. What others see as a nice looking video, I perceive as a well optimized selection and a solution to an algorithmic problem. I'm also a voracious movie fan. With my work at Magisto, I get to feed both my creative and scientific curiosity. I'm fascinated by the process of applying mathematical logic to the artistic process of filmmaking.
My Geeky Background:
PhD. Computer Vision and Video Analysis. Post-Doctoral position. The Weizmann Institute of Science
Research Collaboration with Microsoft Research
PhD. and MSc. Computer Vision, The Hebrew University
BSc. Computer Science and Mathematics, The Hebrew University
I've always been fueled by building things. I first discovered this love of entrepreneurship as the lead singer of an independent rock band called Strangefolk, based out of Vermont. I toured the country and made nearly a dozen albums on the back of bootstrapped hard work and DIY sheer will. That passion for working with a small team to build something special has led me to the intersection of media and disruptive technology – a location at the heart of the Magisto story.
My Rock and Roll Background:
Senior Marketing Executive – Fox Mobile Group, eMusic, Snapple Beverage Group
Lead Singer, Assembly of Dust and Strangefolk
MBA. Cornell University
BS. University of Vermont
